A Laid-back, Elevated Space Ready to Host

Our clients came to Haven Made ready to refresh their dining space. The adjacent spaces, a front living room and recently constructed addition, had already been recently decorated which left the dining space feeling out of place. In addition, they mainly use the dining room for entertaining, but the large farmhouse table and bench, while beautiful, were bulky for the room and made the flow of traffic a bit difficult.

The ask was for a light, neutral, textured space that felt cohesive with the other rooms on the first floor and featured black accents and small pops of color. We also wanted to give the dining room more presence and thought wallpaper would be a great way to do so while also adding additional interest & texture.

The result is a laid back, but elevated space just waiting to host friends for dinner! The updated chandelier, layered window treatments, and flatweave rug bring texture and warmth to the room. The wood dining table still has a chunky, rugged vibe but with dimensions that better fit the size of the room. A modern sideboard offers plenty of space for storage and serving. The art and subtle green chairs bring in the pop of color we were looking for.

HOME OFFICE & FOYER UPGRADE

Adding Coziness & Color in Hershey, PA

The office and foyer of this gorgeous Hershey area home were already chock full of beautiful features like soaring ceilings, French doors, built-in bookcases, and rich paint. But our clients wanted the office to have more function and warmth, and the large foyer to feel less empty and cavernous.

The goal in the office was a comfortable space that could function well for work but also provide a quiet, cozy space for crocheting and reading. A rework of the layout allowed space for two comfy armchairs to add seating to the room, as well as minimized the visual emphasis of the multiple monitors and accompanying cords. A large area rug played off of the beautiful paint color to add warmth. The desk chair, the workhorse of any office, is cushy enough for long periods of sitting but still stylish.

The foyer, which is the size of a small bedroom, was fairly empty and any art or furniture that was present was so small in scale in comparison to the size of the space. First and foremost, we knew a large, impactful area rug would immediately help fill the space. We also amped up the art, especially in color, to visually fill the space. Lastly, a round textured entry table with a large vase of stems capped off the design.

A Fun [and Functional] Teen Bedroom

It’s positive vibes only in this teen bedroom! From the pink walls to the tropical rug and sunny table lamp, this room exudes sunshine and happiness. We used bold colors and playful prints to amp up the energy. While the fun may be obvious, the function is certainly there too! Storage was high on the priority list for our homeowners. See that cute green bench? The cushion lifts up and there’s storage inside. That adorable arched bed? Yup- storage under there too. It actually has four drawers you can pull out. (Thank you West Elm!) Of course, we’ve got more closed-storage in each nightstand and a cute stack of boxes on the dresser for stashing jewelry and other items. Oh, and we reorganized the closet to make even more room for this young client!

Not only did color play an important role in creating a warm, happy feeling in this room, but it also helped to minimize the drastically different proportions of these two windows. We suggested color-drenching this room (painting the walls, ceiling, and trim the same color). Our main goal was so that once the walls were painted, we would not be drawing attention to the windows by having them outlined in bright white trim. We also typically add long curtain panels to bring softness to a bedroom. But in this case, due to the varying heights, widths, and elevation of these windows, we opted for simple inside-mount Roman shades instead. This allows for the windows to be blacked out when sleeping and adds some softness and texture, all while keeping the look streamlined and minimal. Drawing attention away from the windows and onto all of the other pretty elements of this sunny space!

Brown Basement Gets a Sweet New Look

Chocolate brown is great for a candy bar, but not so sweet for a dark basement! Our homeowner was ready for a basement overhaul. For her, that meant tearing down a dividing wall, swapping green carpet for a warm wood look with LVP, and trading the deep brown walls for a light, neutral shade instead. She also wanted to add a cozy fireplace for relaxing and watching TV, as well as a game table and toy storage for entertaining the grandkids.

From the moment you walk down the stairs, the transformation is evident. A large piece of art sets the tone for the space and introduces the new color palette. The blue dresser below serves as extra storage. A navy sectional with cozy pillows provides plenty of seating and defines the living space. Tucked behind the sofa you will find a wide console-- perfect for books, games, puzzles, and all of the grandkids' toys! We used the homeowner's own photos to create a custom gallery wall that showcases some of her favorite travel destinations. The wall art and styled shelving unit ensure that this basement is as beautiful as it is functional. Pretty sweet after all!

Sisters Get New Spaces in Highspire, PA

When this Dad moved into a new home, his number one priority was making sure his daughters felt comfortable in their new surroundings. This meant giving them full reign to help design their bedrooms and fill them full of the things they love!

The youngest, a tween, knew exactly what she wanted (She even came to our first meeting with her own layouts!) Her wish list included a neutral color palette and lots of boho touches-- like macrame, natural materials, twinkle lights, and a nod to nature. She also requested a spot to cozy up with a good book. So, when we presented her with the idea of a fun hanging swing chair, she was totally on board. Luckily, Dad was too! Her inspiration, combined with Haven Made's vision, made bringing this look to life so fun and easy!

Her sister, a high school junior, wanted something a bit moodier that captured her unique interests and really reflected her personal style. While we kept her bed, curtains, and nightstand that she loved, we reworked her layout so that her bed became the focal point of the room when you walked in. Deep merlot walls, layered lighting, and jewel tones all amp up the drama and the cozy factor. A new Navy dresser gives plenty of room for clothes. A stacked ottoman and trunk serve as additional storage for books. Her favorite part? The custom gallery wall of Marvel Posters-- a teen's dream!

PRIMARY BEDROOM MAKEOVER

Primary Bedroom Dream Come True in Peach Bottom, PA.

This client had decorated her bedroom when her family moved in 6 years earlier but never felt settled in this space. She was feeling unhappy with the paint, finding it cold and a bit jarring. She had also struggled to style the built-in shelves flanking the fireplace. Her ask for us was a soothing, neutral room with some subtle touches of color. Beautiful but not fussy. A space that both she and her husband would feel comfortable in.

Our answer was to reduce the contrast in the space, bring in warmth through warmer colors, wood tones and textures, and re-style the built-ins.

This gorgeous color palette was inspired by an art print by Amber Swartz that our client had fallen in love with but had not yet hung up. We found the perfect spot for it in this room!

A large part of this transformation is the tray ceiling. We said goodbye to the turquoise paint in favor of a neutral textured wallpaper. Love!

The end result? You can't help but exhale and unwind once you step through the door!

COLORFUL & CHEERY FIRST FLOOR REFRESH

A Fun First Floor Update in Mount Joy, PA

These clients were feeling a bit stuck in their home and ready for a refresh. Their kids had grown beyond the little kid stage so they felt comfortable updating their larger furniture pieces, but also knew that they needed to better utilize and re-layout their spaces to better fit their active family life. Their biggest requests were for additional storage, plenty of seating for the whole family and better flow, cohesion, and style for the whole first floor. They also were not afraid of color and wanted to play off of the existing orange paint color they had in the back of the house. They also had a few art pieces that they owned or had on their wishlist, which also helped serve as inspiration for the room design and color palette.

Their open floor plan consisted of a front living room as well as a back living area that connected to their eat-in kitchen dining space. We kept the front living room as their true living room while transitioning their back living area into a casual keeping room style space, perfect for crafts, hobbies and music. The kitchen dining space got a style jolt with all new furniture, window treatments, and chandelier.

A New Build in Lititz Gets all the Finishing Touches

After our homeowners moved into their beautiful new build, they were ready to make it their own. While this home was stunning from the start, some areas were still feeling a bit sterile and just not reflecting the clients’ personal style. However, being a young family with a toddler, we had to keep comfort and function at the forefront. By warming up the wall color, and painting out the fireplace surround, along with adding window treatments, we instantly upped the cozy-factor. A larger rug and new throw pillows gave their current furniture new life in the living room. And that gorgeous faux leather ottoman, it's got tons of hidden storage inside— perfect for hiding toys and blankets! An arched cabinet and pretty wall art add major style points to this space.

The dining room got a whole new vibe. A stylish rug anchors a beautiful dining table along with some modern upholstered chairs. We swapped their small console table for a much larger sideboard that provides plenty of storage for dishes and glassware. The wall art above makes a big impact on a once-empty wall. And of course the gorgeous new chandelier is the cherry on top. This dining space got the ultimate glow-up!

Not to be overlooked, their lovely kitchen got some new barstools to coordinate with the dining space, as well as a gorgeous stack of art on the walls. So pretty!

The front entry got a mini-makeover of its own. A deep charcoal green on the door and a new runner and chandelier bring the drama. The front console got a little styling to help her fit in with the rest of the refresh!

Making Room for Movies, Music & More in Hershey, PA.

Is a home really a home if it does not support the things you love to do? These clients have been so much fun to work with as they have prioritized creating spaces in their home for their favorite activities. We have already helped them create a music and craft space out of what was intended to be a formal dining room, as well as update their sunroom for family time and entertaining.

Obviously, we were thrilled to help them update and enhance their media room. The goals of this room were to create an intentional space for record playing, listening, and storing as well as a plush, comfy area for family movie nights. We loved bringing more balance and impact into the room with the dramatic wall color and built-in shelving. The record shelves pack a visual punch and serve double duty as both wall art and storage. Some updated lighting, comfy-cozy seating, and a new area rug modernized and warmed up the room. We don’t want to ignore this beautiful rattan media console - such a pretty piece that seems made for this space!

While we were at it, their powder room and hallway both received makeovers also! Bold wallpaper, new mirror, lighting and vanity breathed new life into the bathroom, while wallpaper and fun wall hooks make an unexpected statement in the hallway.

Kick back & Unwind with this Sunroom Makeover

Cue the relaxing playlist, kick off your shoes, pour a tasty beverage, and get ready to unwind! Whether as a family or entertaining friends, this sunroom is all about taking it easy. The calm colors of the pale green sofa, textured blue and cream area rug, light warm wood tones, and pops of rusty terracotta coordinate with the existing siding, floors, and gorgeous windows to create a really serene environment. We designed this custom bar based off of inspiration from Howe Home Design (which, unfortunately, does not ship to the U.S.) and Brookside Brothers brought the vision to life beautifully. With a space like this, we predict some stay-cations in their future!

COASTAL BASEMENT RETREAT

Airy & Bright Basement Makeover in Mechanicsburg, PA

From the cozy reading nook, to the wine fridge and wet bar, this basement has something for everyone! We were so excited when one of our fav families reached out with word that they were embarking on a basement remodeling project. We had previously helped them redesign and refresh their entire first floor. So, they already knew the value that Haven Made would bring to the table. Once again, they partnered with CS Barton Services for this large undertaking. (As you can see by the photos, the outcome was simply spectacular!) We were thrilled that our homeowners reached out to us at the very start of their remodel. From the very beginning, they graciously entrusted us to help curate a vision for this space— from providing input on the layout, selecting flooring and paint, down to styling the smallest details.

From the outset we knew that this basement would need to serve a variety of purposes. It was to include a home office, a three piece bathroom, and the main living area needed to be divided into zones for relaxing and watching TV, entertaining friends and family, as well as include a spot for snuggling up with a good book. Even the stairwell, leading down to the basement, got a little revamp!

We knew that we wanted something beautiful to greet you at the bottom of the stairs, upon entering the space. Hence, the cozy chaise for reading and these striking bookshelves. We love all of the earthy, sculptural elements featured here— plenty of eye candy.

Moving along to the right is a large bone inlay mirror. Not only does it make a style statement, but it helps to bounce light around the basement as well. The large gallery wall was inspired by our homeowners’ many travels. Each photo, representing a favorite destination. In front, a grouping of four chairs and a coffee table make the perfect spot for a game or drink with friends. Speaking of drinks, check out that wet bar! We thought it was so smart of our homeowners to include this in their remodel. It’s such a practical addition that makes hosting a breeze. And, we needed to give guests something to talk about; hence the fabulous wallpaper and the white oak floating shelves. Again, another spot to work a little styling magic.

Tucked around the corner is a deep sofa for relaxing and watching TV. The floating console keeps things simple and this living area feeling open and airy.

The new bathroom got a fun and fresh feel with pop of pink and a little nod to their vacations at the beach.

In addition to a secondary living area for family and friends, another major key reason for the basement remodel, was the addition of a home office. This space was intended to feel a touch more masculine, while still complimenting the aesthetics of the rest of the remodel. The large art pair makes a statement as soon as you enter the room. Being that our homeowner spends a lot of time on virtual work calls, it was important that his background felt curated and intentional when he was on screen. This large circular shelving unit was a unique way to add in some style and accomplish that. While his coworkers are already talking about the new view, what they can’t see is that the opposite side of the room looks just as good! The live edge desk is a statement piece for sure.

Knowing that their first floor had previously gotten a refresh and the basement was getting a full remodel, our homeowners couldn’t leave their stairway in between feeling “builder-grade.” So that small spot got an overhaul with new paint, new carpet, new lighting, and a little styling to boot.

Varsity Vibes Kid's Room Makeover

The stakes were high for the makeover of this space. Our young client really enjoyed decorating his old room with different displays of toys or tchotchkes, or sticking stickers on his walls. We knew we had to bring our A game to impress him with our design. We landed on a vintage-inspired sports themed room for this young sports fan and athlete. We loved mixing new and old sports memorabilia, layering color and pattern, and utilizing photography of family athletes to create this dynamic room. Sophisticated but fun, this room will grow with him easily for many years to come.

Relaxed and Refined Primary Bedroom in Hummelstown, PA

This bedroom had the core items down. Bed, check. Dressers, check. Nightstands, check. But beyond that, it was not bringing much to the table. It was just asking for a healthy dose of warm, casual luxury. Warm white paint, a rich, large rug and fluffy, cozy bedding did the job. Roman shades added just the right balance of softness and privacy. For wall art, we chose a serene landscape above the bed, as well as photography of some of this couple’s favorite places and special family properties on the opposite wall. We love that the final result is refined, but relaxed.

Blue Skies Ahead in this Bedroom Transformation

This young client’s cute wilderness-themed nursery had grown with him over the years, but it was time for a change. He wanted blue and he wanted a bunk bed, so that is exactly what he got! We took inspiration from the cool vintage propeller that this family already owned to create an aviation adventure theme in the space. A super fluffy rug provides a great place to play, while the reading corner is the perfect spot to wind down. Combined with lots of storage for stuffed animals and pretty sconces at the bed side and this room is ready for take-off!

Restful Retreat in Harrisburg, Pa

We start every project by asking our homeowners about their goals for their space. How do they want their finished room to look? To feel? For this project, our clients were looking for a restful bedroom with a laid back vibe. They wanted it to feel relaxed, yet pulled-together and sophisticated. A neutral color palette was a must for them. And, they were hoping for just a touch of coastal inspiration.

Before, the simple bedding, white walls and hard surfaces were falling a bit flat. A warmer shade of paint on the walls, a soft area rug, and layered bedding really upped the cozy-factor. Larger art and nightstands, as well as bringing in additional furniture, really helped to fill the space and make each item feel intentional. When reveal day finally came, our happy homeowners noted that their bedroom met all of their goals and was even better than they had anticipated! Success!

ANGLES, CURVES, AND COLOR

Hitting All The Angles in Palmyra, Pa

Our homeowners had recently renovated their kitchen and were looking to update their adjoining living room to create a more cohesive feel. While this room was quite large, the long and narrow floor plan was posing quite a challenge for our clients. They ended up with several large pieces of furniture pushed up around the perimeter of the room and things were feeling disjointed for them. They also had a desire to showcase family photos, as well as inject some color into the space— including window treatments that would pack a punch. With that in mind, we developed a plan that better addressed the layout, would take advantage of those beautiful views, and add some fun and personality into the space.

One easy-to-overlook, but oh-so-important recommendation that we made, was to carry the paint color from the kitchen into this room, as well as up onto the ceiling. While it is quite common to leave ceilings white, in this case, its stark white color was accentuating the angles of the room and visually breaking up the space. Once that wall color was lightened and carried up on the ceiling, it created a much more open and airy feeling and allowed us to create a bit more balance in this space.

A beautiful new rug anchors a deep blue sectional and two matching accent chairs, allowing family and friends to have conversations, watch TV, and enjoy the views outside of the large window (There’s a swimming pool below!). Speaking of windows, custom drapery adds a fun pop of color as well as added height to the room. A pair of curved, light oak bookcases add symmetry to the large wall and are the perfect spot to show off family photos and fun decor. A gallery wall above the sofa completes the look. Safe to say, our homeowners were thrilled with the final look!

EARTHY COASTAL FIRST FLOOR

New Build in Mechanicsburg, Pa

Many of our clients reach out to us because they have recently moved - either into new builds or new-to-them homes. This project is an example of a beautiful, blank slate, new build. The core goals of this project were:

No more plain, blank walls
Ditch the furniture that's been around since college
Add their personality and inject style
Make it feel more like home
Create a space in which they would be excited and proud to host friends and family.

Essentially everything in the living room changed, but the biggest player in this transformation is the new fireplace wall with shelves. This impactful focal point completely changed the room, amped up the coziness, and provided so much opportunity for styling. Layer in the new sofas with brass legs, marble coffee table, and statement curtains, and our clients had the earthy coastal space they always dreamed of but didn't know how to implement in their home. The look extended to the connected kitchen with textured table, arch cabinet, and rattan lighting and stools.

The dining room is a big testament to the power of rugs, lighting, and window treatments! In this space, the homeowners did not have much in the room other than the core furniture and were looking to make the space feel finished and inviting. To do so, we went for high impact with the wall treatment, chandelier, and large art piece and kept the rest of the styling simple. The rug and airy curtains add so much warmth to the room.

Major interest was added in the entry with this wall mural that gives the appearance of a textured, ombre painted wall. It's the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous custom white oak waterfall table! New lighting, statement mirror, runner and decor complete the space. All in all, it definitely creates a moment the second you step in the door!

Not to be forgotten, the powder room also received a glow up. Warm and cozy are not usually the words that jump to mind when discussing powder rooms, but we think this one sure is! Board and batten added interest and the wood vanity and brass fixtures bring up the warmth. Bonus points for extra storage under the sink! We just love how this turned out.

Lebanon, Pa Master Suite Refresh

Check out this stunning Owners’ Suite that we had the privilege of giving a complete Room Refresh. From the luxury bedding and vintage wall art, the oversized nightstands and gorgeous deep blue dresser, the beaded chandelier, wood carved mirror and of course the rich rug that pulls it all together— everything in this room whispers, “come relax here...” And, we’re happy to report that our homeowners think it’s pretty dreamy too. The proof came via text the day after their first night in their new space - they said it was like sleeping on a cloud!

TAILORED TRADITIONAL LIVING ROOM

Classic & Timeless Room Refresh in Lancaster, PA

We had so much fun with this beautiful Hamilton Park home and awesome client. He reached out interested in updating the look and feel of his living room. He knew he liked traditional furniture and decor, and he liked his current room's color scheme. So within those boundaries, we re-imagined a new look for the space. We love how the deep navy walls really allow the fireplace to shine. Luxe seating (hello, caramel leather!), original wood floors, gallery wall, and brass lighting give this space a cozy, library feel. We included personalization throughout the room, from vintage cigar boxes and golf photos, as a nod to our client's hobbies, to lots of picture frames for family photos. We opened up the layout for better flow of traffic and conversation, while keeping plenty of seating for entertaining.

ARTFULLY INSPIRED LIVING AREA

First Floor Makeover in Hershey, PA

Our homeowners had big plans to completely update the look and feel of their home but were looking for interior design and decorating expertise to set the vision and execute the project. We put our mark on six different areas of their home, but this living room has to be our favorite. The reason why? It was all about THEM! In addition to unifying the spaces, adding light, and modernizing the feel, our clients’ wanted to incorporate their daughter’s artwork— so sweet and so cool. The end result of the room refresh was a totally unique look that represents this awesome family. See below for some of our favorite features…

The art- Do you see the portrait of the “blue man”? Our homeowners’ daughter drew that pretty piece in her high school art class! We specifically curated the gallery wall, as well as the entire color palette for the room, based off of her artwork. We love that her proud parents wanted to show it off.
The TV console- The color. The Curves. The vibe. What’s not to love about this pretty piece of furniture? We think it’s definitely adding some serious style points compared to the old TV cabinet.
The fireplace built-ins- Open Shelves? Yes Please! We love how these shelves are completely open and visible from both the living and dining room. While this feature, along with their depth, made them a touch tricker to style, we absolutely love the final result. So dreamy!

Another favorite part of this project was this gorgeous mudroom makeover! This is another example of how a small space can undergo big changes. It’s also a testament to the power of styling! Our homeowners were absolutely thrilled with their recent mudroom reno. (So pretty!) Even so, they knew that this space still deserved those beautiful finishing touches to really make it feel complete— that’s where Haven Made stepped in. We added softness and texture with a patterned rug, a new window covering, and a few throw pillows. Baskets allow items to be stashed away , while keeping things looking neat. A leather bin corrals the family’s keys. A bit of art ties it all together with neighboring rooms. Transformation complete!

Building a new home is such an exciting endeavor. However, the reality is that often you are left with a lot of white walls and “builder-grade basics” throughout. Our homeowner had a strong sense of style and knew that she was ready to add her personal stamp on her gorgeous new home. But, as a busy professional and mom, she needed help unlocking her home’s full potential. Enter Haven Made. We helped make some massive changes by introducing new paint, bold wallpaper, and custom wall treatments, not to mention, adding in wood tones and lots of styling! Check out some of our favorite spaces below…

The entry welcomes guests with a hefty dose of “Hi! Welcome to our awesome house. A cool family lives here!” Just look at that wallpaper. It made such a difference. We love that our homeowner fell in love with this wallpaper just as much as we did. Knowing her love of bold prints and a desire for a black and white color palette that flowed throughout the main living areas, we felt this was the perfect choice. We loved that this print was graphic, while still maintaining an organic feel with its shapes and gradations of black and charcoal. The black door adds depth, the line are layers in another punch of color and bench got a makeover to add warmth and personality with a custom cushion, pillows, and baskets for shoe storage. Welcome home.

Right inside the entry is what we refer to as the “mini-office.” It’s the spot where our homeowners house their printer, pay the bills, and keep work documents. So, function was key. However, being right inside the door where friends and family enter, it had to look cute too! We swapped their white utilitarian desk for one with simple clean lines and a beautiful wood tone. That, along with a few simple rattan organizers, add warmth to this area. The art injects a splash of color to the crisp white walls. It’s always fun to see how just a few small tweaks can really transform a space.

This first floor powder room was cute from the start. We loved the black and white tiles, mirror and fixtures our homeowner had chosen for her new build. But we all agreed— we could kick it up a notch! Cue the board and batten and wallpaper! Now, it's got added dimension and interest. To keep things from feeling stark, with all of the black and white, we added a small dose of mustard and and the warmth of wood in the art and table. And, as an added bonus, she’s now got a bit of additional storage and spot for some pretty candles.

Once again, we utilized wallpaper in the design. While bold prints dominated in the entry and powder room, we went for something more subtle in the main living area. A faux grasscloth adds interest and texture, and just enough contrast to make their fireplace really stand out. While large scale art was considered, ultimately our homeowners decided to style their space with smaller art and accessories (including some family heirlooms) to keep this feeling simple and light. We think it was a great choice. If you check out the before photos, you’ll note that all of the core furniture remained. Yet, we were able to transform this space by swapping out some of the bolder throws, pillows, and accessories for textiles and decor items that are more muted. Now, this room’s stunning architectural featur es really shine! Further proof that you don’t have to start from scratch to make a big impact.

Our client had created a work-from-home space in her basement that served her well functionally, but aesthetically— not so much. Her schedule is full of video calls and presentations and she wanted her backdrop to be camera ready. In addition, we all agreed that this space should reflect her personality, her work, and her brand. Paint, storage, and styling completely changed this space! There is room to display books and items important to her work, as well as ways to bring in personal touches through family photos and plants (While these are faux since it is a basement, she actually has a very green thumb!) The paint and artwork compliment her brand colors and really complete the workspace.

buy a new dresser or nightstands
get new lamps
add curtains

Here’s what we DID do:

be intentional with our spending
used a statement wall hanging to add color, texture, and make a big impact
swapped out the headboard for something simpler, so as not to compete with the wall hanging above
layered an area rug to further add color and pattern to the room
kept the cool, sculptural lamps, but swapped their shades for ones with a more modern silhouette
styled the space with a mix of new accessories and the homeowner’s own
created a relaxing space that feels brand new for our client

This is a good reminder that you do not need to start from scratch with your space. We can keep what you love and what’s working for you; we’ll develop a plan to create a room you love.

A Sitting Room Guests Won't Want to Leave

Where do we start - in short, this project was fun from start to finish. These clients were childhood friends turned lovebirds looking to create a space that reflected the fun-filled life they have built together. Once used as their son's playroom, this living room was ready to be transformed into an adult entertaining space. It was still a family affair with all three weighing in throughout the design process.

The wish list from our clients included the following:

WHIMSICAL HISTORIC HOME

1700's Charm in Maytown, PA

If this project has one message, it is "make your home your own." From the start this client was ready to do just that. She and her husband had recently moved into this gorgeous 1700's home and were anxious to put their stamp on it. She knew she liked traditional, eclectic, and boho styles and was looking to balance a light and airy feel with some punches of drama, color, and pattern. Her biggest challenge was working through the awkward shape of the living room to create an easy conversation space without blocking the flow of traffic to the dining room.

We knew immediately that the fireplace would be a stunner in a bold color and were thrilled when our clients were on board. The rest of the space flowed from there with fresh paint, layered rugs, and pops of brass, marble and capiz.

The dining room is brimming with personality, striking a perfect balance between formality and fun. Our client knew from the start that she wanted wallpaper in the space….um, agreed! Her dining table and cabinet remained, while new upholstered chairs and dramatic chandelier added some softness and shine.

The entry hall got its own refresh with new lighting, runners, wall art and accent table. How fun is the little lamp?! We fell as much in love with this space as the homeowners!

Living, Dining & Entry Refresh in Chester Springs, PA

Our clients had recently remodeled their kitchen and back living room. (Both were beautiful!) They reached out to us looking to refresh their dining room, front living room, and entry, to ensure that their entire first floor felt cohesive. We were able to provide them with several ideas and options to update their space. Ultimately, we landed with rooms that all felt very inviting with a touch of coastal sophistication.

Let’s talk about this entry. It was beautiful to start with, it just needed to be warmed up a bit to feel even more welcoming for visitors. A long console table added storage and style, a larger rug gave texture and coziness, and new planters brought in personality and life. Now it feels as warm and welcoming as the family that lives inside.

The “before” of this room is a great example of how pretty things do not necessarily equal a room that works for you or feels good to you. This room was painted a pretty color, was filled with beautiful furniture, and had lovely curtains on each window. But the homeowners found themselves avoiding this room and using it as a dumping ground. It didn’t feel warm and welcoming like other areas of their home and they weren’t sure how to fix it. While the lighting and dining room set stayed put, a new look was achieved with a few impactful swaps. The dusty blue, hand-stenciled-look wallpaper and painted vintage console table (thanks to Sebastian Brothers Vintage!) did a lot of work transforming the space. Airy new curtains and a larger, low-contrast rug softened the look.

The goal of the living room was to create a conversation space for visiting with friends and a family space for playing piano and reading. We were so happy to bring that to life. Fresh paint, new lighting, and a soft rug brightened up the whole room. Large baskets and a new cabinet provide plenty of storage for toys. One of our favorite features is this fun custom arched picture ledge displaying the children’s artwork. But we think the mantle might take the cake— love the art, love the candlesticks, love the vibe.

Cozy and Sophisticated Primary Bedroom in Lebanon, PA

When we met our clients it was clear that they had put in a lot of effort over the years to decorate and complete many rooms in their home. But, as with many homeowners, their bedroom was one of the last on the list. It was safe to say, this room was giving them the blues. They were ready for a space of their own that was stylish, sophisticated and cozy. Taking inspiration from the blue color palette elsewhere in the home, we added a gorgeous rug, deep chambray pillows, and indigo nightstands of a similar hue. Long drapes, fluffy bedding and patterned sheets amped up the cozy factor, while a larger dresser, the three-drawer nightstands, and console table loaded with jewelry trays and baskets helped with storage needs. We personally love the shelf above the bed, arched mirror and the sconce lighting!

A Space to Rest and to Create

We love when a client knows what they want. And for this young interior decorating client it came in the way of a 3x5 index card wish list for his bedroom! A key feature was an “animation studio” - a space for creating stop motion movies with his Legos. We were totally on board. Our client’s other interests include nature and art so we thought a gallery wall would be a perfect statement above the bed. When envisioning a kid’s space, a gallery wall may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But, it can be a great way to incorporate lots of different elements in a cohesive way. It was the perfect grownup alternative to a theme room for this tween space. Nature, birds, Legos, Star Wars, Minecraft, and even his own artwork were all included; each image a reflection of his personality. The best part is, as he gets older and his interests change, he can easily swap them out- ensuring that he loves his bedroom for years to come!

A First Floor Ready for Entertaining

Our homeowner loves to host a good party and was eager to invite friends and family into her new home. As a busy professional, it was important to her that she could trust Haven Made to create a design plan that would meet her goals and bring that vision to life. At the top of her list was a space that would reflect her bold style and fun personality. From a layout standpoint, we knew we’d need to address the home’s unique footprint— including a long living room that was open to a front sunroom area. We divided up the long living area into two unique zones. At one end, a deep sofa and comfy chairs serve as a spot for watching TV day-to-day as well as facilitate conversions and gathering with guests. Nearby, two comfy chairs with plush ottomans are the perfect place to curl up with a good book and provide additional seating when company is over. The bold blue bookcases were carefully curated to not only provide practical storage, but to make a bold statement when you enter the home.

In the dining room, there is plenty of room for friends to gather around the table with a good drink (Hello gorgeous buffet and bar!). Above the buffet server, a gallery wall showcases a collection of colorful art. Opposite, a pair of faux leather chairs in the window nook provide the perfect spot to have a cup of coffee in the morning with your SO or unwind with a glass of wine at the end of the day. From the impactful rug, to the mid-century chandelier, to the stunning dining chairs, our homeowner was thrilled with the final look. (And, we’re pretty confident her friends are enjoying the space too!)

Lancaster, PA Primary Bedroom Update

In this room refresh, we utilized all of our clients’ existing furniture, but layered in airier window treatments, a rug and additional bedding in playful colors, along with bright artwork to give it a complete makeover. The biggest challenge of this room was resolving the awkward window above the bed. Since this was the best layout for our homeowners, adding drapery across the back wall, as well as a pair of matching lamps, created symmetry and brought balance to the room. Our clients loved that we were able to breathe new life into their bedroom, without having to replace any of their existing core furniture. We think that smart design!

We loved creating this wilderness adventure themed room for a young outdoor-loving client. The goal was to give the bedroom a refresh in a way that could grow with him. Adding a statement bed, textured rug and curtain gave the room more style and softness. We also downsized the nightstands to open up the space a bit. We made sure there was a cozy corner with a bean bag chair - his special request. His mom recently reported back that he keeps mentioning that he can't believe this is his room!

Fresh and Fun First Floor Makeover in Manheim, PA

Our client moved her sweet family into a beautiful new home and had big plans to make it their own. With a clear vision on how she wanted the main floor living spaces to look and feel, we helped her to select everything needed to create a home that was vibrant and full of personality! In the great room, the artwork that we chose for the mantel served as inspiration for the entire space. With a backdrop of grand windows and tons of natural light, there is no denying that the fireplace and stunning new chandelier take center stage. Yet, we can’t help but to just adore the perfectly placed books and plants that fill the otherwise impractical nooks above the TV built-ins. The luxe velvet ottoman and blush chair with rattan details are also favorites that really help to amp up the style!

The kitchen and breakfast nook received a makeover with beautiful built-in, wrap-around bench seating, gorgeous new chairs, lighting and window treatments. We love the pop of color in the pillows. This space is flooded with natural light, making it the perfect place to enjoy your morning cup of coffee.

In the dining room, we were thrilled that our client had already fallen in love with this wallpaper and so it became the jumping off point for our design for the entire first floor. We love the fun but refined look it gives this dining room! The hutch was another special component of this space. It is a family heirloom that our client wanted to incorporate in the room but not let its ornate style boss the rest of the room's design. Simple, clean planters let the beauty of this piece shine while blending with the overall airy feel of the room. The beautiful table, comfy chairs, and classic brass chandelier strike the perfect balance of fun and sophistication!

Lastly, but certainly not least, the powder bath. One look and you know that small spaces can make a big impact! While the vanity needed to remain in place, the room got an overhaul with white board and batten and playful wallpaper. New lighting, fixtures, and a gorgeous wood mirror with a brass inset finish the look. Baskets are a stylish way to store toilet tissue and hand towels. And, a pretty tray is the perfect way to keep bathroom essentials organized. We love that this homeowner wasn’t afraid to go bold in an often overlooked space. This is a powder room that is certain to have guests talking!

Refinished Basement in Hershey, PA

Our clients had recently finished their basement and were looking for help to make it feel finished. The goal for this space was to meet three core needs for their family: a relaxing living space, a space to work out when they couldn't make it to the gym, and a play space for their little one! The showstopper of this kick-back zone is definitely the new fireplace and built-ins. We helped determine the final design for the fireplace/built-ins and our clients' talented family member built them!

It's definitely not every day that a climbing wall is incorporated into our designs, but we are here for it! This play space was SO much fun to create. In addition to having toy storage, the goal was to create zones for our active, bug and makeup loving ‘lil client:

an activity zone with climbing wall, jungle gym, and magnet boards
a vanity and dress up zone
the ultimate little wind-down reading space complete with canopy

We fell in love with so many of the details in this space like the scalloped lampshades, butterfly artwork, rattan chairs, and bumblebee wall figurines.

A Work-from-Home Space for Everyone

A work-from-home stint, growing school-age kids, and a desire for a dedicated space for schedules, bills, and homework meant it was time for our clients to maximize the use of their front room. It was time for a room makeover! The room is right off the main entrance behind french doors so we knew we needed to create a space that was as beautiful as it was functional. Enter this calm, dreamy transformed space with loads of storage and bulletin board space (a specific wishlist item from our client)! The built-in two-person desk rightfully steals the show. The rug, statement light, leather chair and Roman shades bring in warmth and texture. The most commented upon item? The sweet vintage watercolor between the windows.

Finally a House That Feels Like Home

These clients had been in their “new to them” home for a bit, but had not gotten it to a place in which it felt like home. They couldn’t shake the feeling that they were living in someone else’s house. A big goal of this room refresh project was to preserve the beauty and character of the home while updating the look and infusing some personality. First and foremost, the collection of playful family photos are just so sweet. A large sectional is perfect for snuggling up by the fire and watching a movie. And we’re a little obsessed with the color palette used throughout the home…from the indigo sofa to the muted green fireplace built-ins to the depth of the colors in the art. You’ll notice saturated hues, touches of leather, brass, and marble, as well as some repetition of unexpected shapes, like arches, throughout the decor choices. The vibe is classic and academic with a little edge.

In what was once a formal dining room, our homeowners wanted a space where they could come together as a family to play music, do homework, complete crafts and just hang out. And while we strive to make every room beautiful, it was especially important in this space, as it’s the first room you see when you enter their home. When dreaming up what this space could be, we shared with our clients an image of a green guitar wall by @thebuchananhouse. Our clients fell in love and it inspired the final look. They even tackled the feature wall themselves! (Talk about a DIY win!) The picture frame molding proved to be the perfect way to show off their favorite instruments. It’s a practical storage solution and stunning focal point all in one! Sheet music doubles as art above the piano and a fun teal cabinet provides plenty of storage for games, puzzles, and art supplies. This once unused room is now one of the busiest in the house!
