A DOWN-SIZED FRESH START
A Bright, Inviting Welcome to Lancaster County
If you have ever moved homes you know that it can be challenging, no matter how exciting and positive the circumstances. Now imagine moving out of state and downsizing by 1,200 square feet. Whew! That’s a big undertaking. That’s the situation these homeowners were in.While they knew they had their work cut out for them with the move, they were excited at the prospect of a fresh start with their home and furnishings. In their words, they wanted to “alleviate decorative baggage.” Still they wanted their new home to be a bright, cheerful space that inspired them each day. We loved this intention and were happy to handle the heavy lifting of designing and decorating their home while they managed the other aspects of the move.
While we developed plans for the majority of the home, the main level, featuring the kitchen and living area, was the primary focus. It would be where the family of four spent the most time together when they were all at home and needed to work really hard for their daily life. They now had only about half the living space as their previous property so we wanted to include as much seating as possible while keeping the space feeling open and light. Clean-lines and natural elements were at the forefront of the design for these spaces and including good lighting and plants were a priority.
We love how airy and calm this space turned out and hope it provides the foundation for many happy years in Lancaster County for our clients!
